Malverde wears two very different shades of green: a Michoacán sativa and a California cut with gas on its breath.
Origin 1: Breaking Buds Seeds identifies its Malverde as Michoacán Sativa, also called Mexican Survivor, and lists it as 90% sativa and 10% indica. The breeder traces the release to a preserved clone selected from seeds reportedly recovered from a Mexican crop that survived an eradication campaign. That survival story is breeder lore, not independently verified history. The documented flavor is sweet with a spicy, tequila-like edge; other descriptions add lemon and lime. Think citrus with a little bite, no salt rim required.
Origin 2: Green Dragon identifies its Malverde as an OGKB 2.5 selection, associated with the OG Kush Breath family rather than the Michoacán line. The cultivator describes dark olive-green buds, pronounced gas, and sweet cooked mint, with a heavier, indica-leaning character. The mint comes with exhaust fumes. Its published account does not establish a THC range or disclose a separate two-parent cross.
Descriptions of the Mexican Survivor version emphasize a quick onset, uplift, energy, and creative motivation. Green Dragon’s version is described as more physically relaxing, with a dreamy, euphoric headspace. Those accounts point in different directions, so the producer’s name matters more than treating “Malverde” as one predictable experience.
Breaking Buds Seeds: Malverde is a feminized photoperiod release suited to indoor and outdoor cultivation. The breeder lists 65–70 days of indoor flowering and a late-October outdoor finish, with regional conditions affecting harvest timing.
Plants are described as medium-height with relatively sparse branching and flowers concentrated toward branch tips. The breeder recommends topping and pinching to encourage branching and improve production. Yield is described as very high, without a numerical benchmark.
Green Dragon: The cultivator has offered its OGKB 2.5-derived Malverde as clones. Its account does not provide a flowering schedule, mature height, or yield figures. Breaking Buds’ timing and training recommendations should not be transferred to this selection.
