Midnight Express

17 to 23 percent THC range

Midnight Express has more than one departure point, and the breeder’s name tells you which train you’re boarding.

Origin 1: Cannabis Family Seeds created its Midnight Express from a green selection of Dark Horse crossed with Freedom Express. Dark Horse brings White Rhino × Purple Jar ancestry, while Freedom Express combines Pineapple Express with Purple Jar. Thick, densely packed flowers and the possibility of purple coloration give this line its visual character, although the original mother stayed green. Midnight doesn’t enforce a dress code.

The breeder continued that family with Midnight Express F2, pairing Midnight Express plants and selecting a CBD-rich male and a purple female. Here, F2 marks the next breeding generation, not an unrelated parent. Two tested females reportedly produced strongly CBD-dominant results, but the breeder explicitly stopped short of promising the same balance from every seed. That distinction matters: the F2 name carries a selection story, not a guaranteed cannabinoid ratio.

A later SOFEM F3 release continues the family with a described sour-grape bubblegum and citrus profile. Those flavors belong to that later release; the original and F2 lack an equally clear flavor description. Same family, different generation, and no reason to give every relative the same tasting notes.

Origin 2: Weedys bred its own Midnight Express from GMO × Irene OG. Garlic and diesel meet sour earth and pine, with a customer describing a spicy finish. This departure smells like somebody brought garlic bread into the engine room.

Weedys describes an initially active head buzz followed by physical relaxation. Its published customer review emphasizes a much sleepier ride, with pronounced relaxation and an evening preference. The head may leave the station first, but the body has already booked the sleeper car. That report belongs to Weedys’ cross, not automatically to the CBD-focused F2 family.

Cannabis Family Seeds’ original Midnight Express was released as regular seed for indoor and outdoor growing. The breeder describes rapid, substantial growth and thick flowers, with a Freedom Express male selected partly for more upright branching. Both parents can express purple coloration, even though the selected Dark Horse mother was green.

The F2 also uses regular seeds. Its breeder describes branches that respond readily to training and support their flowers in a screen-of-green setup, with purple expressions appearing in at least half the breeder’s population. That is a breeder observation, not a guaranteed result from every pack. Growers selecting for CBD need testing of individual plants; color and structure cannot identify the cannabinoid ratio.

Neither the original release nor its F2 has a dependable published flowering window, measured yield, or mature-height specification. SOFEM’s later feminized photoperiod F3 is listed at approximately eight weeks, with medium stature and suitability for training under a screen. Those specifications belong to the F3.

Weedys has not supplied a public cultivation schedule for its GMO × Irene OG version. Freedom Seeds’ separately named auto has its own seed-to-harvest estimate, which should not become the flowering time for either photoperiod line.
