White Rhino came charging out of Amsterdam's old-school White Family, bred by Green House Seed Company from White Widow and a selected Afghan indica. That puts Brazilian and South Indian genetics on the White Widow side and heavy Afghan influence on the other, pushing this classic firmly toward the indica end of the spectrum.
The strain backed up its reputation early, taking second place in the Bio category at the 1996 High Times Cannabis Cup and another second-place finish at the 2005 Champions Cup. Green House has reported White Rhino at 20.19% THC, but modern flower can move above or below that mark depending on the grow and batch.
White Rhino trades the candy-shop theatrics of newer strains for something darker and earthier. Musk, hash, pine, and woody herbs lead the aroma, with peppery spice and a softer fruity sweetness underneath. The flowers grow dense and chunky with a heavy dusting of trichomes, giving this member of the White family plenty of visual horsepower to match the name.
Reviews lean heavily relaxed, happy, and euphoric. The high can open with a brighter mood before White Rhino starts showing its indica side, gradually trading that early lift for a slower, heavier finish.
The strain grows short and fat with thick branches and heavy yields of large, tightly structured buds. Green House also reports the strain flowers in 63 days under optimal, indoor growing conditions, but may take an extra 7-14 days to flower outdoors. Sea of Green (SOG) and Screen of Green (ScrOG) grow methods are highly recommended.
