About E-nails, Dab Nails, and Dab Accessories
Dabbing has become an integral part of the cannabis industry. There’s even 710, a holiday dedicated to oil consumption and dabbing.
As the cannabis industry continues to evolve and technology advances, additional ways to consume dabs and types of dabs (or concentrates) are created and sold.
Whether you’re new to the world of dabs and concentrates or you’re an expert dab consumer looking for your next rig or set of dab tools, Weedmaps has you covered.
Frequently asked questions
Dab rigs are types of water pipes, like bongs, but meant exclusively for consuming cannabis concentrates (also referred to as dabs). They come in an assortment of materials, shapes, and sizes.
Electronic dab rigs, also known as e-rigs, are dab rigs that are either battery-operated or electrically powered. They differ from non-electric dab rigs because they allow for temperature control and the ability to keep the temperature consistent. They also don’t have water chambers.

Dab nails are essentially shallow dishes you place the concentrate on and apply heat to. The name nail comes from the fact that they look like the nails you hammer.
Therefore, dab nails have a shallow dish on top where you place the concentrate and apply heat to it.
Dab nails are most often made with titanium or metal, but you may see them made from glass, quartz, or ceramic too.
In terms of sizing, dab nails are typically universally fitted, meaning that they can be used with any dab rig.
Some consumers like to season nails before using them.
E-nails, or electronic dab nails, are components you can add to a dab rig to ensure a precise and consistent temperature. They replace the nail in a dab rig. They also eliminate the need for a torch because they use battery power or electricity to heat up.
Most e-rigs already come equipped with e-nails.
Like bongs have bowls to put flower in to smoke, dab rigs have bangers to put the concentrate in and heat it.
Bangers are types of nails that look like buckets and are typically made from quartz (also known as quartz bangers), but you may see them made from titanium, ceramic, and glass too. They come in a variety of sizes and designs, similar to bong bowls.
While they may be used interchangeably, bangers and nails are actually quite different.
First, bangers are shaped differently from nails. They have deeper dishes and joints that extend from them at either 45- or 90-degree angles. Bangers have a larger dabbing surface than nails, which creates more airflow into your dab rig.
Unlike dab nails, which are typically universally fitted, you need to pay attention to the size of the downstem on your rig to ensure you buy a banger with the proper-sized joint.
Bangers are best for wetter concentrates, like sauce; nails are best for concentrates that are firmer like crumble and shatter.
Percolators, also known as “percs,” are often included in non-electric dab rigs. Also found in bongs and bubblers, they make the water bubble, which helps the water filter out any potentially toxic substances and creates smoother hits.

Dabbers are tools designed for scooping up a dab of concentrates and placing the dab on a heated nail.
They look similar to Slurpee straws, with the scoop spoon, but don’t have openings at the top.
There’s nothing worse than heated concentrates dripping off a dab rig and creating a sticky mess on your table or counter. Dab mats help prevent this from happening.
Dab mats are mats you place on your table or flat surface to give you a slip-proof surface to set up your dab rig and make cleaning up any messes from sticky concentrates easy.
Dab mats also protect your furniture from the hot tools used to dab. Rest the hot tools on the dab mat instead of your table or countertop.
They’re typically made out of silicone and come in a variety of colors and artwork.
Like dab mats help prevent messes, so do oil reclaimers. Oil reclaimers are glass attachments you can add to dab rigs. They fit between the water chamber and the nail and collect any condensed concentrate from the vapor as well as any runoff concentrates.
Once the reclaim oil builds up, you can scrape or melt it out. Don’t throw it away though! Reclaim oil is potent (typically containing 40-50% THC) and already decarboxylated, which means it’s perfect for making your own edibles.
Nectar collectors, also known as dab straws, glass straws, and honey straws, are a type of dab rig known for their portability and convenience. They look similar to dabbers, with a vertical design resembling a straw.
Unlike using standard dab rigs, you heat the tip of the nectar collector, which is commonly made out of quartz or titanium, and bring the heated tip to the concentrate to inhale.
Dab mats are commonly used in tandem with nectar collectors because you need a surface that’s able to withstand the heat of the tip when it’s brought to the concentrate.
Nectar collectors are more portable and discreet than typical dab rigs. They’re also more easy to clean because they’re smaller and have fewer components.
If you prefer lower-temperature dabs, you need to invest in a carb cap.
A carb cap is a dab tool made from heat-resistant materials, such as quartz, glass, and titanium, and designed to seal the bucket on a banger or dish on a nail. Acting similarly to a lid on a pot, carb caps enhance convection and airflow to make low-temperature dabs possible.
The price of a dab rig will depend on the material it is made from, its size, its components, and whether it is electric.
Typically, dab rigs range anywhere from $50 to $10,000 or more.
E-nails typically cost between $100 and $700.
On average, dab nails and bangers typically cost anywhere from $15 to $300.
While you may find some for under $15, these are typically cheaper because they’re made from less sturdy materials and are more prone to breaking.
The more expensive the dab nail or banger, the better the quality it typically will be.
On average, dabbers cost anywhere from $10 to $50. The price depends on the material they’re made out of.
Dabbers also come in a variety of designs and colors, such as dabbers shaped like swords or carrots. The more intricate the design, the more expensive the dabber tends to be.
Dab mats usually cost between $10 and $30.
On average, oil reclaimers cost between $15 and $40.
Nectar collectors vary in price depending on whether they’re electric or not. Electric nectar collectors are more expensive than non-electric ones.
On average, nectar collectors cost anywhere from $10 for a standard glass one to $250 for an electric one.
Because carb caps come in a variety of materials, designs, and shapes, prices will vary.
On average, carb caps cost between $3 and $70.
