Bong Bowls 

Bong bowls are necessary parts of bongs used to hold ground dry herbs while you ignite. They are often removable so you can clear the chamber and inhale the filtered smoke, which is why bong bowls are commonly referred to as slides or sliders. 

Like bongs, they come in a variety of materials, including glass, metal, silicone, ceramic, and wood.

Bong bowls are not one size fits all. There are multiple things you should consider when you’re purchasing one. 

First, you’ll need to determine what gender bong bowls you’ll need for your particular bong. Male bongs have tapering tubes that protrude from the stem. This means the bong bowls are placed on top of the joint. If your bong is male, you’ll need female bong bowls to slide over the joint. 

Female bongs require you to insert the bong bowl into the joint. If you have a female bong, you’ll need a male bong bowl to slide into the joint. 

Next, you’ll want to make sure you select the right joint size. In this case, the joint refers to the opening where you insert the bong bowl. While they can range in size, the most common are 10, 14, and 18 millimeters.

Lastly, you’ll need to determine the size of the bowl. If you’re mostly having solo sessions, a smaller bowl is best. If you’re passing your bong around for a group sesh, a larger bowl would work better. However, a larger bong bowl is recommended if you have a higher tolerance and want larger rips. 

A bong adapter is only necessary if you find a particular bong bowl that doesn’t match the joint size of your bong.
