The ultimate guide to globbing: embracing the thrill of taking big dabs

Step into the captivating world of globbing, where potency and flavor intertwine to create an exhilarating experience for cannabis enthusiasts.

Big globs have taken the cannabis community by storm, capturing the attention of enthusiasts far and wide, and this phenomenon is more than a trend; it's a culture that has sprung up around the thrill of taking massive dabs.

What is globbing?

Globbing is the act of taking a big dab hit. Unlike traditional flower, globbing involves concentrated forms of cannabinoids and terpenes, intensifying effects and offering myriad flavors and aromas. Even avid dabbers know that you can almost fly to the moon and back with a little grain of a rice-sized dab.

The allure of big globs lies in the intense high they provide, but this extra potency is not without its considerations. For some, the density of the trip might be too much, leading to uncomfortable experiences, anxiety, or even panic attacks. Big globs are best suited for high-tolerance consumers or experienced "hash heads" who have acclimated to the concentrated effects.

The importance of temperature for globbing

The nail temperature is a critical factor in the globbing experience. Higher temperatures are necessary to ensure the complete melting of the concentrate so it can unleash its full potential and deliver a satisfying hit.

The temperature will vary depending on what surface you use to dab, like quartz or ceramic — or titanium, though it's not recommended — and the size of your dab.

We asked our avid globber friend @lilbigsmoker about her favorite temperature ranges from different devices:

  • Puffco Pro with XL chamber: Settings in 571°F | 299°C — one-minute duration and XL vapor mode.
  • Terp slurper with a Dab Rite Pro temperature device: 570°F

Typically, the ideal temperature range for a quartz surface is 500° to 600°, and for ceramic, the same.

How to glob concentrates

Taking a big dab is an art form that demands finesse and knowledge. To embark on the ultimate dabbing experience, one must learn the proper techniques and rituals.

And remember: it's always best to start low and go slow.

Here's how to glob concentrates:

Step 1: Dose

Understand the importance of dosage. Taking a big glob is not about recklessness but controlled exploration.

Start with a smaller dab and gradually increase the size as you build tolerance and confidence. A glob typically exceeds 0.2 grams, which typically offers an intense experience.

Step 2: Heat nail

Higher temperatures are essential for big globs to ensure proper vaporization of the concentrate, maximizing its effects without wasting precious oil. Heat your nail to at least ___ to start.

Step 3: Inhale

The inhalation technique is crucial for a satisfying big dab.

Slowly draw the vapor into your lungs and try not to hold it too long. Breathe in the vapor and breath it out.

The best equipment for the perfect globbing experience

Globbing is more than just inhaling a concentrate; it's an art that enthusiasts have honed over time. Dabbers employ various techniques and styles to get the most out of their big globs, and some of these techniques include special equipment.

  • Slurpers: Slurpers are specialized dabbing nails designed to enhance the vaporization process. They utilize a vortex-like system that allows the concentrate to be continuously drawn back into the nail, maximizing efficiency and flavor.
  • Inserts for nails: Inserts are small cups made of quartz or other materials that fit inside the dabbing nail. They help maintain a consistent temperature, making it easier to take big globs with precision. Inserts also help the dabbing experience last longer.
  • Puffco Peak 3DXL Chamber: The Puffco Peak 3DXL chamber is a cutting-edge innovation that offers increased capacity for larger dabs. Its advanced airflow design ensures a smooth and flavorful experience.

You can use Glob Mops to keep your supplies shining when you finish globbing. They're specifically designed for cleaning sticky bangers and nails.

Should you try globbing?

Taking big globs is a thrilling journey into the heart of cannabis concentrates, and understanding the art, technique, and safety considerations will allow enthusiasts to unlock the full potential of their dabbing experience.

So whether you're a seasoned hash head or an aspiring globber, remember to approach the world of big globs with curiosity, respect, and a sense of adventure. Happy dabbing.
