If you love a joint-free smoke, then a handheld vaporizer might be an excellent purchase. They have many benefits, including convenience and vapor being healthier than smoke. One popular weed vape is the Pax Plus, which has become a great tool for smokers of all levels and consumption habits.
Here's everything you need to know about the Pax Plus vaporizer.
What is the Pax Plus vaporizer?
The Pax Plus is a handheld vaporizer capable of being used with both dried cannabis flower and cannabis extracts like BHO, live rosin, and live resin.
There are many different types of cannabis vaporizers — some only work with dried flower, some only work with cannabis concentrates, some work with both. The fact that the Pax Plus is a dual-use vaporizer adds to its popularity.
It's an excellent choice for people who don't want to inhale harsh smoke or need a portable, convenient, and discreet device.
The Pax Plus typically retails for $250.
How to use the Pax Plus
A great benefit of the Pax Plus is how easy it is to use.
Step 1: Charge
Before use, charge the Pax Plus. It typically takes a couple of hours to go from completely depleted to a fully charged battery. To find out how much battery your device has, simply give it a shake.
Step 2: Grind cannabis and concentrates
Obviously, you need weed to use the PAX Plus. If you're going the flower route, make sure to grind your nugs before packing the device — it will vaporize way better. If you're using concentrates, the oil is already ready-for-consumption in whichever form.
Step 3: Pack device
The Pax Plus has two sides: on the top, there's the mouthpiece; on the bottom, there's the conduction oven that heats your herbs and concentrates.
For flower, poke your finger into the bottom of the device and it will pop open, exposing the oven. Insert your cannabis into the oven, use your Multi-Tool to pack it down, and then replace the mouthpiece.
For concentrates, use the Concentrate Insert that comes with your device. Open it, insert your concentrates on the circle in the middle of it, replace the top, then place the insert into the Pax Plus oven.
Step 4: Power on
The Pax Plus has one button for all functions. Simply click it once and the device will begin heating — it's heating when the lights are flashing. When it's ready, the flashing lights will become solid and the device will vibrate.
There are four experience modes with preset temperatures: Stealth Mode, Efficiency Mode, Flavor Mode, and Boost Mode.
- Stealth Mode – 360°F: produces minimal vapor, dims LEDs, and turns off vibration settings for discreet sessions.
- Efficiency Mode – 380°F: conserves material for longer-lasting sessions.
- Flavor Mode – 400°F: delivers a balance of flavor and vapor throughout your sessions.
- Boost Mode – 420°F: provides maximum vapor production and is ideal for concentrates.
To cycle through them, hold the power button to activate the mode selector, then single-click until you reach your desired consumption setting.
Step 5: Inhale
When the vibration hits, so do you. Inhale from the top mouthpiece and enjoy your cannabis. Make sure to hit the device slowly and gently so that you get a nice, even pull. Sip — don't rip.
Step 6: Power off
To power off, simply click the mouthpiece button once. The battery should last for about 5 - 7 sessions.
Step 7: Empty the oven
Once your session ends, empty the oven. If you're using flower, clean the oven with the wire brush that comes with your device. If you're using concentrates, use a cotton swab to remove any residual oil from the Concentrate Insert. This step is imperative in preserving your device and ensuring that you don't ruin your next session's flavor.

What is it like to hit the Pax Plus?
The Pax Plus works extremely well. The heat is consistent and doesn't burn the flower, which could result in the loss of important cannabis compounds like cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, etc. When it comes to drawbacks, I can't find any — it's a straightforward device that does exactly what's advertised.
Here's what it's like to use the Pax Plus with dried flower and with concentrates:
Pax Plus with flower
The dried flower I used was a randomly numbered (A-22) phenotype from a box of Binske/Oni Seed Co. flower. I used Efficiency Mode during this test.
When I had smoked joints of it before, the flower had a lemony-Pinesol, classic sativa type of flavor. The high was a daytime type of feel. When I tried this strain with the Pax Plus, I had high hopes that the same experience would translate from smoke to vapor. It did.
A few puffs of vapor lined my mouth with vibrant citrus and the nutty, earthy undertones of the flower. The smoke was so damn smooth and the high's onset is quick, too. You definitely won't cough from using this device.
It only took a couple of hits before the buzz behind my eyelids began to grow, but not in a racy, anxiety-inducing way. Instead, it felt comfortable and slow, in a being-hugged-by-a-weed-plant kind of way. Two bowls later, I was completely smacked on the couch.
Pax Plus with concentrates
The concentrate I vaped was the Ricky Bobby live rosin from Nature's Lab Extracts. I used Efficiency Mode during this test.
I wanted to see if I could get huge clouds of vapor, consistent flavor, and the super-high that comes from consuming cannabis extracts. As with the flower, the Pax Plus delivered on the expectations with smooth hits and the same sweet and funky flavor that I got from consuming Ricky Bobby rosin with other concentrate devices. Above all, the smoothness of the hits is outstanding.
Bottom line
In the end, I love this device. I love how compact it is, how smooth the vapor flows from the mouthpiece, how easy it is to clean, that I only taste the flavors of the flower without the herby background noise, and I especially love the high that follows, even from a single bowl.
If you're wondering if the Pax Plus is worth your money, the answer is simple: yes.
