A member of the legendary Thunderfuck family, Matanuska Thunderfuck, or MTF for short, is yet another strain that puts Alaska on the map. The original breeder of MTF was lost to time, but the original genetics are still bred by AK Bean Brains. The lineage of MTF is a little confusing: modern MTF strains are bred from the original MTF strain, which is allegedly a cross between Purest Indica, an Afghani strain, and Afghani itself. The strain takes its name from the Matanuska Valley, where it was originally bred.

The result is an indica-dominant hybrid that packs a heavy punch. MTF has a unique aroma: musky earth with floral notes and a surprisingly strong pop of chocolate in the flavor. MTF leans into its indica heritage, with a high that consumers report is both deeply relaxing and still euphoric. But beginners, be warned: MTF is legendarily strong, and a few tokes go a long way. Enjoy too much, and the couch will be your best friend for several hours. Munchies are common, so come prepared.

The original genetics of MTF are hard to come by. You may find other lineages bearing this name in dispensaries, such as a cross of Haze x Northern Lights x Skunk x Highland Oaxacan Gold, but technically, this cross is not the original MTF.
