Grapefruit is an old-school sativa-dominant hybrid generally traced to Cinderella 99 and an unidentified sativa. Some versions of the story point to Thai genetics on the mystery side, but that part of the family tree has never been firmly nailed down.
The name isn't trying to be clever. Shred the flower and grapefruit comes rushing out, backed by tart citrus, tropical fruit, and a sweeter edge that keeps the profile juicy rather than sour. The flavor follows the nose with grapefruit and tropical fruit up front before a light earthy, herbal finish pulls everything back toward weed.
The buds typically stay on the lighter green side, threaded with orange pistils and finished with a sticky coat of trichomes that gives the flower plenty of frost without hiding its bright coloring.
Grapefruit earns its sativa reputation quickly. The early ride tends to feel energetic, happy, and euphoric, with fans describing a talkative, creative headspace that can make sitting still seem like a waste of perfectly good momentum. There's enough lift here to keep Grapefruit firmly in the daytime lane for plenty of smokers, while larger sessions can turn that bright buzz considerably more spacey.
The sativa-leaning hybrid strain is reported to grow short, producing lime-green buds with thick orange stigma hairs in a 60-70 day flowering period. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors, responds well to Sea of Green growing methods, and should be grown in a humid, Mediterranean climate when grown outdoors.
