Blueberry earned its name before the dessert menu took over the dispensary. DJ Short’s classic brings sweet berry flavor to an indica-dominant family rooted in Afghani, Thai, and Purple Thai genetics. Its history runs through the original breeding work and later seed-bank selections, with the fruit remaining the family resemblance.

Origin 1: DJ Short developed the original Blueberry line through breeding work dating to the late 1970s. Its ancestry combines Afghani with Thai and Purple Thai influences, bringing stockier indica traits into a more geographically diverse family. His Blueberry F5 continues that breeding history under the DJ Short name. This is the source of the lineage, rather than a modern cross assembled from two blueberry-flavored parents.

Origin 2: Dutch Passion’s Blueberry comes from its collaboration with DJ Short, which brought his genetics to the European market in the late 1990s. Its selection helped establish Blueberry among Dutch seed catalogs and carried the line to a wider audience. This branch shares the original family history, with subsequent selection accounting for differences between breeders’ releases.

Sweet blueberry leads the aroma, with earthy depth and occasional vanilla notes underneath. The flavor keeps the fruit recognizable without losing the herbal character of the flower. Dense green buds can develop red, purple, or blue hues, giving the name a second meaning when the right plant reaches maturity.

OGs who’ve been burning this one since day one describe an easy lift in mood followed by a more pronounced physical unwinding. Thoughts can feel less crowded as the body relaxes, with sleepiness gaining ground later in the session. Blueberry’s lasting appeal has as much to do with that unhurried finish as the fruit that introduces it.

Classic photoperiod Blueberry selections commonly finish indoor flowering in approximately eight to ten weeks. Plants often develop a stout frame and dense flowers, although seed-grown individuals can vary in branching, height, and color.

Blueberry can be sensitive to heavy feeding, so increase nutrients gradually and watch how the plant responds. Keep conditions steady and leave enough room between branches for airflow as flowers fill out. A compact plant still needs breathing room inside its canopy.

Some plants reveal deeper colors as nights cool toward harvest, but color is a genetic trait as well as an environmental response. Follow flower development and trichome maturity when choosing the finish, then dry and cure patiently to preserve the berry aroma.
