Blue Moon has more than one family behind the name, and each brought something different to the smoke circle. Berry and vanilla on one branch, a cheese-family cross on another, and a cereal-flavored selection on a third. Same name on the jar. Different roots underneath.
Origin 1: Sweet berry meets vanilla in Just A Handful’s cross of Blueberry and Ice Cream. The pairing combines Canadian Blueberry stock, potentially tracing to older DJ Short lines, with Paradise Seeds’ creamy cultivar. This Blue Moon keeps its flavor firmly in the berries-and-cream department. Dessert genetics before the menu got crowded.
Origin 2: A different family reunion happens at JohnnyBGoode Seed Collective, where Mims Workshop meets Blue Cheese. Mims Workshop adds Trop Cookies and StrawberryGlue ancestry to the equation, giving this version a substantially different pedigree from the Canadian cross. The shared name doesn’t make them interchangeable.
Origin 3: The cereal bowl enters through Noble Farms’ selection from Archive Seed Bank’s Moonbow 112 IX line. Its parents are Moonbow #112 F1 and Moonbow #112 F2 #60, and its sweet cereal flavor earned the nickname “BooBerry Cereal.” Archive supplied the genetics; Noble Farms selected this particular expression.
Smokers describing Blue Moon report happy, giggly, sometimes dreamy effects followed by physical relaxation, with sleepiness in some sessions. JohnnyBGoode’s version emphasizes body relaxation, while those broader reports don’t establish an identical experience across every release. Knowing which Blue Moon you’re packing matters more than checking the lunar calendar.
Just A Handful’s Blue Moon grows vigorously indoors, outdoors, and in greenhouses, with flowering around 58 days. Its development for Canadian outdoor gardens gives this release a practical identity beyond the berry-and-vanilla flavor. Feminized seed versions are part of its history.
JohnnyBGoode’s Blue Moon takes the longer shift: 65–75 days in flower, developing long, stacked colas. It was released as regular seeds for indoor, outdoor, and greenhouse cultivation. Keep those two schedules separate; the name on the pack doesn’t set the harvest clock.
Noble Farms’ Blue Moon is a specific selection from the Moonbow 112 IX hunt. Growing seeds from that family produces siblings with variation, rather than guaranteed copies of the selected plant.
