Biscotti didn’t just ride the Cookies wave. It helped turn that wave into a cultural tidal surge.
Connected Cannabis Co. created Biscotti in 2016 by crossing South Florida OG with Gelato #25. For years, the strain was broadly credited to Cookies Fam and Berner, but Connected co-founder Caleb Counts has since filled in the missing pages. According to Counts, Connected launched the breeding project, employee Fandango helped make the cross, and Berner joined the pheno hunt before naming and marketing the winner. Counts also says the partnership agreement kept Cookies from growing Biscotti after the split.
That backstory fits Biscotti’s profile perfectly: dessert pedigree with a hard OG spine. Coffee, cocoa, earthy sweetness, and toasted dough sit up front, while pepper, fuel, and darker Kush funk keep it from turning into straight pastry case. Connected notes that the terpene expression can swing from batch to batch, but the strain rarely loses that roasted, sweet-and-savory core.
Biscotti also became one of those strains whose name escaped the jar. Rap references piled up, the cultivar became inseparable from West Coast hype weed culture, and the name started showing up in seed catalogs far beyond the original cut. Barney’s Farm later released a feminized Biscotti with a broader Gelato, GSC, and OG Kush description, but that line is better understood as a later Biscotti reproduction rather than a separate origin for Connected’s 2016 cultivar.
The consensus from people who know the original leans deceptively social at first. Happy, euphoric, creative, and occasionally giggly reports tend to lead before the heavier side starts pulling the room into slow motion. Relaxation eventually takes over, making Biscotti feel less like dessert after dinner and more like dessert that quietly canceled the rest of your plans.
