Origin 1: JBeezy of Seed Junky Genetics bred the original, which Doja Exclusive helped introduce in 2022. Its lineage combines Biscotti, Sherb BX, and Jealousy. Sherb BX refers to a backcross involving Sunset Sherbet. Published descriptions differ on the exact order of the crosses, but consistently identify those three components. Permanent Marker went on to become Leafly’s 2023 Strain of the Year.
Later feminized and S1 releases carry that genetic background into seed form. They can express different traits from the selected original plant, but their shared ancestry does not establish a separate origin for each seed company.
Origin 2: Philosopher Seeds offers a distinct cross of Permanent Marker with Lemon Cherry Gelato. The breeder describes retaining minty, spicy gas while adding tropical fruit complexity. This version introduces another parent and deserves its own identification.
