Banana Runtz brings ripe banana, creamy sweetness, and a little gas to the dessert rotation. There’s more than one branch on this banana family tree, with two distinct parental pairings sold under the name.

Origin 1: The version associated with Solfire Gardens crosses Banana OG with Runtz. Barney’s Farm also offers that parental pairing in its feminized F1 release. These belong under the same broad lineage, although each breeder’s selections can produce different expressions.

Barney’s Farm describes overripe banana, tropical fruit, vanilla, and subtle gas, with banana-bread and caramel notes in the flavor. Other flower descriptions lean toward milder banana followed by earthy spice and floral tones. The fruit can lead loudly or sit behind the funk, depending on the cut.

Origin 2: Old School Genetics pairs the Cookies Fam cut of Runtz with Banana Ripple #17, selected by Oldman Green. That numbered selection is part of the breeder’s Banana Ripple/Banoffee Pie series. Its release emphasizes a creamy flavor and substantial production, with a noticeably stretchy growth habit.

Buds from the Banana OG pairing are typically described as knuckled and resinous, with green coloration, orange pistils, and occasional purple shading. Barney’s Farm specifically describes deep-green buds that can develop purple tones late in flowering. Those colors vary with the selection and environment.

Dispensary regulars describe uplifting euphoria, a tingly body sensation, and comfortable physical relaxation. Some find the experience sociable and creative; others settle into a heavier, quieter finish. The balance between mental lift and body calm is a recurring theme, though the name alone cannot promise a particular intensity or level of alertness.

Barney’s Farm lists its feminized photoperiod release at approximately 60–65 days of flowering. Plants are described as bushy with strong lateral branching, typically reaching 100–120 cm indoors and 150–220 cm outdoors. Published yield estimates reach 550 g/m² indoors and 700 g per outdoor plant, with an early-to-mid-October outdoor finish.

Old School Genetics lists approximately 55–60 days of flowering and an October outdoor harvest. Its feminized release is described as stretching substantially, with a listed threefold increase during flowering. The breeder reports indoor yields exceeding 600 g/m² and outdoor yields around 600 g per plant.

These are release-specific breeder estimates. The shorter, bushier descriptions attached to one version should not replace the pronounced stretch documented for the other.
