UK Cheese has terrible manners and excellent staying power. Sharp cheese, ripe fruit, and penetrating skunk give this British classic a smell that refuses to stay inside the jar. Its reputation grew through shared cuttings, with the Exodus collective helping circulate the original during the 1990s. Before the seed versions multiplied, the funk already had a following.
Origin 1: Original Exodus cut and preservation lines. The original emerged as an unusual Skunk #1 phenotype. Elev8 Seeds developed a regular-seed backcross using an Exodus female and a male from an extensively backcrossed Cheese line. CSI Humboldt lists a feminized S1, produced by selfing the cut. UKSeedCo also attributes its feminized version to the Exodus lineage, without specifying the reproduction method. These releases share the original foundation, although seeds do not guarantee an identical copy of the clone.
Origin 2: Green Fantasy Seeds. This breeder lists UK Skunk × Afghani, with its lineage tree identifying the UK parent as the Exodus cut. The resulting 60% indica hybrid emphasizes sweet fruit, cheese, and a pronounced cerebral effect.
Origin 3: Shaman Genetics. Shaman crossed the Exodus cut with a selected Skunk #1 female used to produce reversed pollen. Its 65% sativa version leans into parmesan-like pungency, compact flowers, and the deeply savory side of the family.
Across these versions, sweetness gives the funk something to cling to. Elev8 describes berries beneath skunky cheese, with the savory flavor lingering between hits. Shaman pushes toward sharper parmesan, while some expressions bring an overripe-fruit edge. The cheese course apparently arrived with its own fruit plate.
Tight, resin-coated flowers are a recurring trait. Shaman’s selection develops large, compact buds on thick stems with closely spaced nodes; UKSeedCo describes dense flowers with a substantial resin coating.
Those who keep coming back to it describe a cheerful headspace with surprisingly little ambition in the limbs. Elev8 pairs uplifting euphoria with potential couch-lock, while Shaman’s following includes more inward, calming, and sleepy experiences. A sativa percentage doesn’t necessarily put this Cheese on its feet.
Flowering schedules depend on the release. Elev8 lists 8–9 weeks, UKSeedCo approximately 8 weeks, and Shaman 60–70 days. Green Fantasy lists 55–60 days. CSI Humboldt’s supplied description does not establish a flowering window.
Green Fantasy gives indoor yield potential of approximately 500 g/m² and 450–600 g per outdoor plant. Shaman lists 350–500 g/m² indoors and 300–450 g per outdoor plant. These are breeder estimates for their respective versions.
Outdoor schedules also differ: Green Fantasy lists mid-October in the Northern Hemisphere, while Shaman gives October 10–20. Climate and plant maturity can shift those dates.
Seed type matters here: Elev8’s release is regular, while CSI Humboldt, Green Fantasy, Shaman, and UKSeedCo list feminized versions. The original Exodus remains a clone, with each seed project taking its own route toward preserving that unmistakable funk.
