The original clone is generally tied to Skunk-heavy genetics that circulated through Texas in the 1990s, with cannabis lore tracing the name to a cut picked up around a Grateful Dead show at California's Shoreline Amphitheatre. The exact pedigree was never nailed down, with versions of the story pointing toward Skunk #1, Northern Lights and Super Skunk stock, or other Dutch genetics from the era.

Origin 1: The original Texas Shoreline is the clone-only cut behind the legend. Its exact genetics remain disputed, but the strain is consistently associated with old-school Skunk stock rather than a confirmed modern two-parent cross. Preservation projects have since worked the clone into seed form, including Texas Shoreline S1 and BX lines designed to keep the original character in circulation.

Origin 2: Another version sold as Texas Shoreline crosses Shoreline with Skywalker OG, producing a more modern balanced hybrid. That lineage is documented separately from the original clone and shouldn't be treated as the genetics behind the historic Texas cut.

Texas Shoreline's calling card is funk with the volume knob snapped off. Classic descriptions pile on room-filling skunk, funky cheese, sour citrus, earth, gas, and peppery herbs, with some cuts bringing sour grape or a touch of sweetness into the mix. Reported THC generally lands around 17–24%, with 21% appearing as a common reference point.
