- Earthy (44% of reported flavors)
Red Velvet has a spicy streak beneath its sweet name. Citrus, floral sweetness, and fuel lead the profile, with a cinnamon-like bite in some selections. Velvet doesn’t mean soft-spoken.
The Oakland cultivar comes from Grandiflora Genetics and reached a wider audience through Cookies. Its widely reported parentage pairs Lemon Cherry Gelato with Piña Acai, although a public breeder confirmation of that exact cross remains elusive. The fruit-and-gas reputation fits the reported family tree.
Long, tightly stacked flowers bring green and deep purple beneath orange pistils and a frosty trichome coat. On the palate, sweet fruit meets an herbal edge before the fuel returns. The spice gives all that sweetness a little backtalk.
Its regulars online describe euphoria and physical relaxation, with some catching an early creative lift before their thoughts start to wander. Hunger can join the session, too. For some, the head stays lively while the body settles; others find the finish sleepy. That velvet touch can make staying put feel like a very good idea.
Grandiflora selection at 58–63 days of indoor flowering, with an early-October outdoor harvest in its Northern California context. Plants reach medium to tall heights and develop dense, conical flowers beneath a substantial leaf canopy.
Grower observations emphasize thinning crowded growth and clearing shaded lower branches so the remaining flowers develop properly. Yield is described as moderate to high, without a dependable numerical figure.
