Pineapple Zest

Pineapple Zest is the name of at least two exotic hybrid strains, though confusion over their ancestry leads to frequent mislabelling. Both are known for their relatively balanced effects and similar appearances, and both are occasionally mislabeled “Pineapple AK” — which is the known parent of just one variety.

Origin 1: Balanced hybrid (Unknown Breeder)

Created from a backcross with Ed Rosenthal's Super Bud, one of the best-known Pineapple Zest hybrids originally descends from Afghani, South Asian, and Thai strains. Buds have bright, leafy-green foliage, and dark clusters of thick orange pistils. It’s hard to trace back to a particular breeder, but fans describe a sweet and sour tropical citrus flavor with an uplifting high that offers a burst of mental energy and calm sense of physical relaxation.

Origin 2: Balanced hybrid (Prūf Cultivar)

Developed by Mikey at Prūf Cultivar, the other commonly-known type of Pineapple Zest is a cross of Pineapple AK and another unknown hybrid. This variety has a similar appearance, but is distinguishable thanks to its more compact growth and pale pistil presentation. One of Prūf Cultivar’s earlier creations, it’s said to exude a sweet aroma of tropical fruit and provide a relaxed but functional high.
