Kool Aid

Kool Aid borrows its name from the powdered sugar bomb that stained a generation of tongues red, but its genetics aren't nearly as messy as the internet makes them look. The best-supported version is an indica-leaning hybrid crossing Cherry Pie with Blackberry Kush, pairing sweet cherry and berry flavors with earthy, fruity depth.

Most of the confusion comes from other strains raiding the same pitcher. Electric Kool Aid, Kool Aid Man, Grape Kool Aid, and several other similarly named cultivars circulate with completely different genetics. The Grateful Seeds' Electric Koolaid, for example, crosses Calypso Fruit with FruitJoy #20 and leans hard into tropical fruit, papaya, and pineapple. That's a separate strain, not an alternate lineage for Kool Aid.

For Kool Aid itself, expect the name to earn its keep. Reports center on sweet cherry, berry, and fruit-punch flavors backed by earth and pine, with an experience generally described as euphoric and relaxing. It's candy-shop weed with an old-school fruit-and-earth backbone, but check the label before assuming every Kool Aid on the menu came from the same packet.
