Not to be confused with any of the other countless Gorilla strains on the cannabis genetic safari, there is such a thing as a straight-up Gorilla strain. But what is most confusing is that there are technically several versions of Gorilla, each with its own lore.

Origin #1: Gorilla by 00 Seed Bank

First up is the simplest. This Gorilla is just a Gorilla Glue crossed with a reversed Gorilla Glue. As you'd expect from this doubled-up DNA, this Gorilla is a highly potent, indica-leaning cross with euphoric, happy, and heady effects.

Origin #2: Gorilla by Dinafem

Another indica-leaning version of Gorilla comes from Dinafem, but in this case, it's a cross of Chocolate Diesel, Chem Sister, and Sour Dubb. This strain produces leaves with a pretty maroon color and crystals that sparkle with an exotic pink hue. Dinafem won both the Los Angeles Cup and the High Times Jamaican World Cup in 2014 with this strain. According to the team, this indica comes with powerful effects.

Origin #3: Gorilla by US SkunkX

In a twist of fate, there is also a sativa-leaning Gorilla on the market today. Created by US SkunkX, this is a cross of Jack the Reaper and Reina Madre (although a separate report indicates a three-way cross with GG4) that boasts a chocolatey, fruity, and earthy profile, with a beautifully light sweetness on the exhale. In the words of US SkunkX, this is a potent option for pain, with euphoric effects.
