Weedmap Feed Content Guidelines

Last updated January 12, 2026

We want Weedmaps to be a place where people feel safe, respected, and connected. These guidelines exist to help us protect that space. They apply to everything shared on the Weedmaps Social Feed ("Social Feed" or "Feed"), whether it’s text, photos, videos, audio, links, or AI-generated content.

For clarity, we’ve outlined what’s not allowed below. If content violates these guidelines, we may remove it, and in some cases, suspend or close accounts, or restrict the ability to post on the Feed.

Our goal is to make sure Weedmaps stays a community people can trust.

These guidelines apply in addition to the Acceptable Use Policy.

1. Safety of Minors

We never allow content that puts minors at risk. This includes:

  • Imagery, memes, and slang that appeal to minors
  • Challenges, stunts, or dares that could appeal to minors or endanger youth
  • Sexualization or abuse of minors in any form, or depictions of minors in violent or exploitative contexts
  • Messaging that minimizes or denies risks of age-restricted products for minors
  • Any content that otherwise is directed to, or appears intended to appeal to, minors or those below the legal age for the use of cannabis or cannabis products

2. Misinformation and Synthetic Media

We don’t allow content that spreads false or manipulated information meant to mislead, confuse, or cause harm. This includes:

  • False health, safety, or election information
  • Conspiracy theories or fabricated news
  • Synthetic or AI-generated media that depicts private individuals without consent, misrepresents endorsements, manipulates context in order to deceive, or is not clearly marked as AI-generated
  • Deepfakes or altered media that could cause reputational, psychological, or physical harm

Note: Other AI-generated content is permitted, as long as it’s clearly disclosed as being AI-generated and is not misleading.

3. Unsubstantiated or Misleading Claims

Content must not include false or unverified claims. We don’t allow:

  • Health or medical claims without credible scientific evidence (e.g., “reduces anxiety,” “cures cancer”)
  • Misuse of statistics, data, or research
  • Misrepresentation of credentials or endorsements

4. Inappropriate or Harmful Content

We want Weedmaps to be safe and respectful, so content that promotes hate, violence, or exploitation is not allowed. This includes:

  • Hate speech, slurs, or demeaning content targeting protected classes (race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, age, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, or immigration status)
  • Obscene or overly explicit language
  • Extremist, terrorist, or violent ideologies
  • Sexually explicit or pornographic content
  • Any form of sexual exploitation or abuse
  • Promotion or glorification of suicide, self-harm, eating disorders, or unsafe behaviors
  • Depictions of illegal drug use or misuse of legal substances
  • Graphic, shocking, or excessively violent content, including gore, mutilation, animal cruelty, or depictions of death

5. Intellectual Property Violations

We respect creators and brands, and expect our community to do the same. Prohibited content includes:

  • Any use of material under a copyright or trademark which you don’t own or have the rights to use
  • Use of another person’s likeness or name without consent
  • Counterfeit products or unauthorized replicas

6. Privacy Violations

Everyone deserves their privacy. You can’t post:

  • Someone else’s personal information (full name, address, phone number, etc.)
  • Requests for or offers of personal information, unless it is for legitimate and lawful business purposes
  • Secret recordings or private content shared without consent
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery (“revenge porn”), or deepfake or AI-generated sexually explicit imagery

7. Promotion of Regulated or Illegal Activities

We don’t allow content that promotes, encourages, or coordinates unlawful behavior. This includes:

  • Sale or promotion of firearms, explosives, or weapons
  • Gambling, betting, or unlicensed lotteries
  • Human trafficking, exploitation, or organized crime
  • Fraud, scams, pyramid schemes, or financial crime

8. Non-compliance with the Law

All content must follow the law, including all advertising and cannabis rules and regulations. For example, we don’t allow:

  • Content that violates cannabis advertising restrictions (e.g., prohibited imagery, failing to display required warnings)
  • Content that promotes the purchase or sale of cannabis or cannabis products in ways that violate applicable state and local law, or encourages transport of cannabis or cannabis products across state lines
  • Content that references illegal product types or sales

9. Spam, Manipulation, and Platform Abuse

We want authentic engagement, not manipulation. Prohibited behaviors include:

  • Spam, mass posting, or repetitive/irrelevant content
  • Deceptive or misleading links or clickbait tactics
  • Vote manipulation, coordinated inauthentic behavior, or use of bots
  • Impersonation, fake accounts, or misrepresentation of identity
  • Malware, phishing, or attempts to compromise account security

10. Harassment, Bullying, and Doxing

Everyone should feel safe here. Content can’t be used to harass or intimidate others. This includes:

  • Bullying, threats, or targeted harassment of individuals or groups
  • Coordinating harassment or encouraging others to attack an individual
  • Publishing private information with intent to cause harm or encourage doxing

11. Transparency for Paid or Sponsored Content

Honesty matters. All promotional and paid content must be clear and upfront. That means:

  • Disclosing sponsored or paid partnerships clearly and prominently
  • Not disguising commercial promotions as organic content
  • Avoiding deceptive content and undisclosed endorsements

12. Weedmaps Platform Integrity

We expect users to respect the community we’ve built together. Prohibited content includes:

  • False, misleading, or disparaging claims about Weedmaps
  • Attempts to divert users off the platform (“poaching”)
  • Content designed to get around other rules on the platform

13. Enforcement, Reporting, and Appeals

We take enforcement seriously, but we also value fairness. Here’s how it works:

  • Users can report content they believe violates these guidelines by clicking the “Report” button displayed on a post
  • Reported content will be reviewed in a reasonable timeframe, and action may include removal of the content, removal of the ability to post content to the feed, account suspension, or account termination
  • If your post has been removed due to violation of these guidelines, you can appeal the decision by following the instructions contained in the violation notice that was sent to you
  • Weedmaps may remove content or accounts that, in our judgment, pose a risk to user safety, undermine community trust, or violate these guidelines
  • You understand that Weedmaps has the final decision regarding any content that appears on the Feed, and may remove content or limit your ability to post for any reason in our sole discretion
