Terpsolate is relatively new to the cannabis product market. The term is a portmanteau, or a blend of two words, which in this case are terpene and isolate. The process of making isolates, usually CBD, involves extracting and filtering hemp flowers through a variety of methods, such as CO2 extraction.

As the purest form of CBD, isolate boasts a 97% or higher concentration of CBD and virtually no THC. However, isolate misses potential benefits of the entourage effect, which posits that cannabinoids may work more effectively together than in isolation. Broad-spectrum and full-spectrum CBD are often considered more potent than CBD isolate. On the other hand, since CBD isolate is so concentrated, it can be faster acting than other forms of the cannabinoid.

Since isolate is almost exclusively CBD, it is both flavorless and odorless. These neutral qualities make it a prime candidate to mix with other substances — in the case of terpsolate, liquid terpenes or liquid hemp terpenes. Pinene, myrcene, and linalool are among the most abundant terpenes in cannabis. In addition to bringing flavors and scents like pine, cardamom, and lavender to the mix, each is reputed to carry unique therapeutic properties, including:

  • Anti-inflammatory
  • Antibacterial
  • Antiviral
  • Antioxidant
  • Neuroprotective

When blended with CBD isolate, liquid terpenes create a concoction known as terpsolate. Powder, crystalline solid, and wax are the most common forms of terpsolate.

Can you smoke terpsolate?

You can smoke terpsolate, but don't expect to get high because there's no THC in the brew. As with concentrates, you can smoke terpsolate by dabbing or using a concentrate vape pen, also referred to as a wax pen.

How do you use terpsolate?

Terpsolate can be used in several ways, including direct consumption or mixed with food and beverages. Here are the top three ways to use and enjoy terpsolate:

  1. Mix into a smoothie, tea, juice, or other preferred beverage. Some consumers report an extra infusion of energy or alertness after blending terpsolate into a favorite morning drink. Depending on which terpenes are present in the terpsolate, the flavor of your beverage may change. For example, limonene could offer a lemony or orangey twist to a green smoothie.
  2. Sprinkle some terpsolate into a soup or stir into a homemade salad dressing to reap some of the same potential benefits.
  3. Place a small amount of terpsolate directly under your tongue to consume it straight without any other ingredients.

In addition, you can blend terpsolate with a carrier oil such as sweet almond and apply topically as you might with regular CBD oil.

The bottom line on terpsolate

Combining the purity of CBD isolate with the potency of therapeutic terpenes, terpsolate is an innovative cannabis product that you can eat, smoke, or apply to your skin.
