They start with the same process that's used to make live resin: freshly harvested and then immediately frozen cannabis flower is stored until it's ready to be extracted. Producing quality live resin from fresh harvested flower is a huge part of the HTE extraction process, ensuring that there will be high levels of terpenes in the end product. Making HTE from live resin involves separating the THCa (“the precursor and inactive version of THC”) from the live resin in the form of crystals (aka “diamonds”). This is done using subtle amounts of heat and pressure. The product is then frozen at -40 degrees at which point a single solvent deep de-wax is required during the primary extraction process. This will remove the fats and lipids within the solution thereby purifying the extract. The recovery process will then begin using a mild amount of heat in order to prevent degradation of the terpenes and cannabinoids. After the solvent has been recovered, what is left is a high terpene flavorful concentrate that is rich in cannabinoids, i.e. “HTE”.
