MFNY Chemdog 1G Live Resin 510 Cart: Hell's Kitchen Dispensary, Manhattan Ask anyone who has been around cannabis for a while about Chemdog and you usually get a story before you get a description. The MFNY Chemdog 1G Single Cart Live Resin puts that old name into a modern 510 cartridge, a full gram of it. You can find it at Cannadreams, the licensed adult-use dispensary at 862 9th Ave on the corner of West 56th Street in Hell's Kitchen. A strain with a backstory The version MFNY tells goes like this. In June 1991, in the Deer Creek parking lot outside a Grateful Dead show, Greg Krzanowski, known as Chemdog, bought a bag of flower. He got more by mail, one of those bags held 13 seeds, and the strain traces back to plants he grew from them. The exact parents were never confirmed, and accounts of who sold the original bag differ, so the honest answer on lineage is that it is not established. What MFNY does point to is the influence: it calls Chemdog a genetic ancestor of Sour Diesel, OG Kush and GMO. What it commonly smells like Commonly reported notes are chem funk and diesel, with earthy, skunky and woody tones and a sour, piney edge. MFNY's own write-up talks about a clean, caramel-tinged gas first, with a deep, raunchy funk behind it. If you like fruity carts, this is not that. If gassy flower is what you reach for, keep reading. The MFNY Classics line Chemdog is Drop 02 in MFNY Classics, a series built around older cultivars that shaped modern cannabis, next to Sour Diesel, Shishkaberry and UK Cheese. MFNY frames the series as restoration through careful sourcing and patience rather than a nostalgia play. On MFNY's own site, its Chemdog carts carry the Classics name. MFNY's cultivar page lists Chemdog as an indica, and it is listed as an indica on our menu as well. Who grows and extracts it MFNY, short for Marijuana Farms New York, is a licensed cultivator and processor that keeps everything on one Hudson Valley farm about 60 miles north of the city. Growing, harvesting and processing all happen there. MFNY makes its live resin carts from flower frozen fresh at harvest using hydrocarbon extraction, and its Chemdog listing says no distillates and no added flavoring. Coming over from flower If you know Chemdog as flower, here is what changes with a cart. No grinding, no papers, and less lingering smoke smell in a walk-up hallway, which counts for a lot when the walls are thin. The flip side: live resin is a concentrate, so pace it differently from a joint. Take a short draw of two or three seconds, wait several minutes, and read the label before deciding on another. Run the battery low, too. MFNY suggests 2.8 to 3.3 volts so those gas notes do not scorch. Thick oil in a cold apartment Steam heat turns a New York apartment into either an oven or an icebox, and cart oil notices. When it is cold, live resin thickens and the first pulls feel tight. Do not crank the voltage to compensate; that is how coils burn. Warm the cart in your hand or an inside pocket for a few minutes, or use your battery's preheat button if it has one. When the radiator is blasting, the opposite risk is a leak, so keep the cart upright and nowhere near the heat. Storing the gram Keep it upright, at room temperature, in a drawer out of the sun. Skip the fridge. When it is not on a battery, a cap or the original pouch keeps lint out of the mouthpiece. Keep it out of reach of kids and pets; to a curious child a cart looks like a pen. Why buy from a licensed store A Chemdog cart sold out of a smoke shop with no state label is not part of New York's legal market, and the name on it could be anything. Ours comes through the regulated system with state-required lab testing and labeling, so the strain, batch and producer printed on the label can be traced. Getting one Walk-ins are welcome, and we are close to Columbus Circle, the Theater District and Times Square, an easy detour after a show on 8th Ave. You can also order online for in-store pickup and collect it at the counter. MFNY also packs Chemdog as half-gram carts and as a Two-Fer of two halves, so ask us which sizes are on the shelf when you come in.
