Origins and Genetics:

Gelato 33 is a standout phenotype from the Gelato cannabis strain family, which is a cross between two celebrated strains: Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint GSC (Girl Scout Cookies). The Gelato lineage quickly became a fan favorite for its balanced effects and rich flavors. Gelato 33, often nicknamed "Larry Bird" in homage to the basketball player, is particularly sought after for its slightly indica-leaning effects, making it a popular choice for relaxation and stress relief.

Aroma and Flavor:

Gelato 33 is renowned for its complex and enticing aroma. It exudes a sweet and fruity scent with distinct notes of citrus, berries, and a hint of earthiness. Upon breaking the buds, you may also detect a slight herbal or minty undertone, a nod to its Thin Mint GSC parentage. When smoked or vaporized, Gelato 33 delivers a smooth, creamy flavor with a pronounced sweetness that lingers on the palate, accompanied by a subtle spicy kick on the exhale.

Effects:

Despite its indica dominance, Gelato 33 offers a well-balanced high that is both uplifting and relaxing. Users typically experience an initial surge of euphoria and creativity, making it a suitable choice for social activities or artistic endeavors. As the high progresses, the indica effects become more pronounced, leading to a state of deep relaxation and calm. This makes Gelato 33 ideal for unwinding after a long day, combating stress, and soothing physical discomfort. It's a favorite among those seeking relief from anxiety, depression, and chronic pain without being completely sedated.

Terpene Profile:

Gelato 33 boasts a rich and varied terpene profile that contributes to its distinctive aroma, flavor, and effects. The top terpenes found in Gelato 33 include:

Caryophyllene:

Effects: Known for its anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties, caryophyllene is unique because it can also act on the endocannabinoid system similarly to cannabinoids. It contributes a peppery, spicy note to Gelato 33's flavor.

Limonene:

Effects: Often associated with mood elevation and stress relief, limonene adds a citrusy, fruity aroma to Gelato 33. It is also believed to have antifungal and antibacterial properties.

Myrcene:

Effects: Myrcene is known for its sedative and muscle-relaxing effects, which help balance the more energetic qualities of Gelato 33. It adds an earthy, herbal aroma to the strain.

Linalool:

Effects: Linalool is associated with relaxation and anxiety relief. It contributes a floral, lavender-like scent to Gelato 33, enhancing its calming effects.

This combination of terpenes not only shapes the unique sensory experience of Gelato 33 but also plays a crucial role in its therapeutic effects, making it a versatile strain for both recreational and medicinal users.

Gelato is a cross between Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies, named in homage to its sweet aroma. Also known as Larry Bird, Gelato (#33) was first cultivated in Northern California's Bay Area and is derived from a deep bank of genetics created by the Cookie Family, the Sherbinskis family, and cultivator Mario Guzman.

The cultivators parted ways following its creation, and the cultivator who possesses the most “stable version” of Gelato genetics is up for debate. Cookies cultivates a few phenotypes and descendants of the strain named Gelato #42, Dolce Gelato, and a sun-grown Gelato. Sherbinskis grows four stabilized Gelato phenotypes in its rotation as well: Gelato #41 (Bacio Gelato), Gelato #43 (Gello Gelato), Gelato #47 (Mochi Gelato), and Gelato #49 (Acai Berry Gelato). Per Sherbinskis, the #33 phenotype is no longer in cultivation.
