Velvet Hammer

Bred by the Great Northern Seed Company from a cross of GG4 and Magnum Opus, the Velvet Hammer strain is an indica-leaning hybrid that has a reputation for strength and a relatively gentle onset. Fans describe a burst of euphoria and creative energy, followed by a powerful and cerebral high that can quickly translate into couchlock or naptime if you aren’t careful.

Velvet Hammer has great bag appeal, though in its case that’s primarily due to one feature: heavy trichome production. Buds are covered in a velvety snow of resin, with bright orange pistils interspersed and vibrant green foliage. They tend to give off an aroma sweet citrus and earthy berry, with a smooth and fruity flavor when smoked.

This strain shouldn’t be confused with Litre-a-Cola, a cross of unique GG4 and Magnum Opus selections from the GELE brand in Portland, ME (they teasingly describe its effects as “the velvet hammer”). There are also signs that Velvet Hammer may be the name of an obscure grower and even rumors of a lost legacy strain with unrelated genetics.
