Smarties is a Pacific Northwest hybrid created by Kush4Breakfast from Blue City Diesel and GSC. Also known as Smartiez or The Smarties, the cultivar earned third place for Best Hybrid Flower at the 2018 High Times Cannabis Cup in Amsterdam.
The nose is candy-shop sweet, with berry, cherry, grape, and citrus layered over earthy herbs and diesel. The smoke follows with a sweet-tart fruit flavor, a brighter citrus snap, and a peppery, cookie-like finish.
Reports from the smoke circle describe a tingly, euphoric start that can turn chatty and giggly before easing into a calmer body buzz. Creative focus also shows up in some reports, giving the strain an easygoing afternoon or evening lane. The flower tends to form rounded, resin-heavy buds in dark olive green, threaded with long orange pistils and flashes of purple.
Smarties is an easy-to-grow photoperiod hybrid that does well both indoors and outdoors. Indoors it stays compact, generally under 30 inches, while outdoor plants stretch to roughly 30–60 inches. Flowering runs about 9–10 weeks (AskGrowers reports 59–68 days, and Weedmaps puts it closer to 70 days), with indoor yields near 300 g/m² and outdoor yields of about 10–15 oz per plant. This strain is happy in warmer outdoor climates, and growers report bright yellow-green fan leaves that turn deep purple in the buds when temperatures drop late in flowering, so a cooler finish tends to bring out that color. One heads-up: seeds and clones are reported as hard to find online.
