Purple Diesel
- Berry (67% of reported flavors)
- Blue Cheese (33% of reported flavors)
Purple Diesel puts purple in the paint job and fuel in the finish. Two documented lineages carry the name, sharing a diesel backbone while taking different routes through Kush genetics.
Origin 1: The Cali Connection crosses Pre-98 Bubba Kush with the original Sour Diesel clone. The breeder selected for purple coloration, pronounced diesel flavor, and a hashier influence from the Bubba parent. Sour fuel leads, with earthy hash adding weight underneath. Its compact, indica-like structure does not automatically describe the effects.
Origin 2: A separately documented, breeder-unattributed line crosses Purple Kush with Sour Diesel. This version is described as balanced, with strong fuel aromas and sour-grape flavor. Grower accounts also mention earthy, musky, and hash-like notes, giving the fruit a distinctly dank backdrop.
Straight off the trim table, the buds are capable of showing the purple coloring the name promises, though expression depends on the selection. The Cali Connection specifically pursued that trait through its Bubba parent. Accounts of the Purple Kush cross describe dark green flowers, pale pistils, and purple accents, with one grower reporting tightly packed, compact buds.
The ones who keep re-upping describe different experiences depending on the cut. The Cali Connection emphasizes an energetic, talkative, giggly lift. Accounts of the Purple Kush cross range from thoughtful cerebral effects and light physical relaxation to a sleepier finish. Check the genetics before expecting either a social spark or a quiet landing. The color gets your attention; the fuel keeps it.
Origin 1: The Cali Connection lists 63–66 days of flowering and medium-to-large yields. Its breeding description emphasizes an indica-like plant structure, and feminized seeds are offered. The breeder’s specific flowering window is more useful than the generic eight-week estimate often attached to the name.
Origin 2: The Purple Kush × Sour Diesel line has been documented indoors and outdoors. One grower reported needing approximately 75 days for purple coloration to develop in their cut. That observation applies to that selection, rather than establishing a universal harvest deadline.
Advanced Seeds’ Auto Purple Diesel is a separate Auto Blue Diesel × Auto Blueberry cross. Its roughly nine-week complete cycle should not be substituted for either photoperiod line’s flowering schedule.
