Purple Citral

aka Purple Chitral

Purple Citral is just another name for Pakistani Chitral Kush, the storied indica landrace that’s been circulating breeder catalogs since the ’90s. While the alias pops up on menus and forums, the genetics all trace back to Chitral in northern Pakistan, a region long known for producing richly colored hash plants.

Origin 1: Cannabiogen (Spain)

Cannabiogen made PCK famous in the West, offering stabilized seed stock that highlighted both the green, earthy pheno and the purple berry-sweet pheno. Their work with classic hashplant material paralleled other projects like Sandstorm (a Hindu Kush √ó Chitral hybrid), making PCK an anchor in their catalog and a go-to building block for collectors hunting old-world indica expressions.

Origin 2: ACE Seeds (Spain)

ACE included PCK in their preservation line, reinforcing the landrace’s reputation as a hardy, stable indica with ornamental purple expressions. In their broader catalog, PCK sat alongside foundational preservation strains such as Nepal Jam, giving growers a clear contrast between South Asian hashplants and ACE’s Himalayan heirloom work.

Origin 3: Bodhi Seeds

Bodhi folded “Purple Pakistan Chitral” into select hybrids, mainly those exploring color, structure, and resin density. In several projects, PCK played counterpoint to resin-rich lines like Snow Lotus, allowing the purple Chitral traits to shine while adding depth to Bodhi’s broader catalog.

Tropical Seeds and other smaller outfits also carried PCK forward, ensuring it never slipped out of the global gene pool.

The terpene mix centers on myrcene, caryophyllene, and limonene, producing profiles that swing between earthy hash-and-wood and sweeter berry-citrus with incense undertones. In flower form, the buds bask in purple hues, reds, and even pink streaks, hence the “Purple Citral” shorthand.

Reports on the high lean classic indica: heavy-lidded calm, warm body relief, and an unhurried groove that feels closer to traditional hash than modern dessert strains. Smokers often say it’s less about fireworks and more about settling into a slower rhythm, the kind of high that’s stood the test of decades.
