Platinum Gelato
The origins of Platinum Gelato depend on who you ask. Given the name, you’d likely think it’s a child strain of the famous Gelato 45 — and in at least one instance, you’d be right.
While one version of Platinum Gelato crosses Platinum Kush with Gelato to create a true hybrid with an intensely sweet aroma, another crosses Gelato and Platinum Purple Candy with surprising results — an earthy, buttery aroma with vanilla and cream notes.
But far and away, the most common version of Platinum Gelato is a cross between Sunset Sherbet and Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies credited to Seed Junky Genetics. This indica-leaner likely gets its name from its parent dessert strains because Platinum Gelato certainly doesn’t smell sweet or dessert-like. Instead, strong notes of skunk, sour grapes, and spicy herbs overwhelm you when you open the bag.
