Lemon Skunk is DNA Genetics' citrus-charged spin on old-school Skunk, created by crossing two Skunk selections chosen for their lemon-heavy character. The female came from Lemon Man's long-held Las Vegas cut, while the male was a prized Dutch selection supplied by Eddie, formerly the owner of a prominent Netherlands seed bank. DNA turned the pair into a 60/40 sativa-dominant hybrid that piled up hardware, including first place Indoor Hydro at Spannabis in 2008, first place Outdoor at the Highlife Cup in 2007, and a spot among High Times' Top 10 Strains of 2009.
Lemon Skunk doesn't bury the lead. Sharp lemon peel and sweet citrus come first, with pungent skunk, earthy herbs, and peppery spice bringing the funk underneath. The plants produce light-green flowers streaked with thick orange pistils, and DNA recommends harvesting around 50 to 56 days to catch the cultivar at its sweetest.
Menu regulars describe an upbeat, happy high with enough focus and energy to keep things moving before a smoother layer of relaxation starts working its way underneath. The citrus may get top billing, but the old-school Skunk funk refuses to stay backstage.
Lemon Skunk grows short with light green leaves, thick orange hairs, and dense, compact flowers. To get the full Lemon Skunk’s sweet citrus flavor and aroma, the seed bank recommends harvesting after 50-56 days of flowering.
