Granny Candy
Granny Candy is bred by Humboldt Seed Company in collaboration with Errl Hill Extracts, proprietors of Fire Mountain Farms. Found in 2020 ten miles inland from HSC's Eureka facility, it was selected as phenotype #65 from over 600 plants and refined over roughly two years. It's a cross of Mountaintop Mint and White Runtz Muffin. The aroma hits with sour strawberry and pineapple up front, backed by a cool mint layer and a gassy undertone.
Consumers often note feeling uplifted and social after a session, with a wave of energy that fans of the strain say pairs well with creative projects or lively conversation. Reviewers also note a mellow physical relaxation underneath the cerebral buzz, making it a versatile pick for daytime use. Visually, the buds are dense and heavily frosted with trichomes, showing off vivid purples and deep reds when grown in cooler conditions — the kind of bag appeal that catches your eye before you even crack the jar.
Granny Candy is a beginner-friendly strain that stays compact at 3–4 feet indoors and stretches to 5–6 feet outdoors, with a bushy structure that responds well to topping and low-stress training to manage lateral growth and improve light penetration. Flowering wraps up in roughly 50–55 days, producing yields around 450–550 g/m² indoors and 14–18 oz/plant outdoors when given adequate light and consistent conditions. It thrives in warm Mediterranean climates with temperatures between 68–80°F and humidity kept around 40–50% during flowering to prevent mold and preserve the vivid purple and red coloring that emerges in cooler nighttime temperatures. Nutrient sensitivity is low to moderate, so a standard feeding schedule works well without the risk of burn that more finicky cultivars demand.
