Big Bud wasn't named by somebody feeling subtle. This old-school indica-dominant hybrid was built around one objective: enormous harvests. The modern Sensi Seeds version combines Northern Lights, Skunk #1, and Afghani, bringing together three cornerstone genetic lines from the early days of modern cannabis breeding.
Big Bud's story started in the United States during the 1980s, when the genetics were reportedly carried to the Netherlands as America's War on Drugs intensified. Once in the Dutch breeding scene, the line was further hybridized and stabilized, eventually becoming part of the Sensi Seeds catalog. That Dutch work turned an already productive American cultivar into the Big Bud that helped make ridiculous yields part of its identity.
The flowers live up to the billing. Big Bud produces thick, heavy colas packed with dense green flowers and a generous frosting of trichomes, with branches sometimes needing support once the weight starts piling on. Sweet molasses and ripe fruit sit over earth, wood, herbs, and peppery spice, with an old-school Skunk edge keeping all that sweetness from getting too polite.
Repeat customers tend to describe a deeply relaxing experience with a mellow euphoric streak riding above the heavier indica character. Big Bud never needed exotic branding or a dessert-menu name to stick around. It got famous the old-fashioned way: grow a lot of good weed and make the branches regret it.
The strain backed up the reputation with hardware, taking first place in the mostly-indica category at the 1989 High Times Cannabis Cup.
Big Bud is an indica-dominant hybrid crafted from Northern Lights, Skunk #1, and Afghani genetics.
