40 Elephants

40 Elephants went from an unexpected seed in a pound of weed to first place on the podium. Garrison Lane’s winning selection reportedly came from a bag of Gelato, then took Best Hybrid Flower at the 2018 High Times NorCal Cannabis Cup. That gives it a Gelato connection, but the pollen parent is anyone's guess. One lucky find, one trophy, and a family tree with a stranger photobombing the group shot.

The name honors the Forty Elephants, the all-female London crime gang known for organized shoplifting. Garrison Lane leaned into that outlaw history, giving this Southern California flower a name with an actual backstory. The trophy, however, was earned fair and square.

Sweet cherry, tart citrus, and creamy berry lead the flavor, with peppery diesel cutting through the fruit. Fans discussing The Grower Circle’s flower also describe berry and gas, with a creamy opening to the smoke. The sweetness gets your attention; the fuel makes sure it stays there. It’s fruit with a getaway car idling outside.

The flowers are described as elongated, loosely packed cones with blue-green coloring, fine orange pistils, and conspicuous crystal coverage. Frost supplies the flash without needing to promise the same shape or shade in every grower’s jar.

Reports from the smoke room note a bright, creative opening with physical relaxation underneath. Think ideas getting passed around as readily as the joint, with the body happy to let the conversation do the running. Focus and mental energy appear in strain descriptions, but firsthand effects reports are too thin to promise a productive afternoon. The appeal is a little inspiration with the tension turned down. Whether that becomes a sketchbook session or a highly unnecessary debate about the best debut album is your department.
