Dr. Thomas Bellavia achieved his Doctorate the University of Rome Medical School, specializing in family medicine. With a medical career spanning over forty years, Dr. Bellavia carries experience in a variety of different medical fields, allowing him to aid patients from many different backgrounds and conditions. After serving as an Army Medic, he returned to New Jersey to sit on the Department of Health and Senior Service Task Force and as President of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians in 2007, among numerous other titles and leadership roles. He was introduced to medical marijuana originally through his patients, observing their quality of life dramatically increase over only a few weeks of cannabis use. Seeking to help his patients requesting medical cannabis’ aid, and especially wanting to wean patients off addictions to pain medication, he decided to offer medical marijuana certifications out of his family practice.
Medical cannabis is one piece of Dr. Bellavia’s doctor office services, all working to help each patient find their wellness. A strong believer in listening to his patients, he prides himself on proactively understanding what the problem is simply by paying attention to their concerns. This attention to detail makes patients feel welcomed and well-cared for, and he strives to be as compassionate of a doctor as possible while helping people achieve an improved quality of life.
Dr. Bellavia’s practice currently does not accept insurance for medical cannabis recommendations, though they are happy to take insurance for their general practice services. The doctor and staff strive to work with visiting patients, extending discounts to any patient in need if they are able. Medical marijuana patients are required to see Dr. Bellavia for follow-up visits every three months for the first four visits, and then every six months following. Appointments are scheduled in advance by phone.
