Years back, when marijuana was not legalized, I went to Dr. Malka's office in Santa Cruz, and I was denied of the permit after prepaying about $95.00. Doctor Malka said to me, "You are not supposed to smoke it in front of your daughter," when I had no intention of doing so. At the time, I was sharing custody, and I had plenty of opportunities to medicate myself without the presence of my daughter, but Dr. Malka assumed that I would smoke in front of my daughter. I was asked to wait outside again for the result, and one of the receptionists told me that I was denied of the permit. $95 for an interrogation was a bit much, I thought. I tried a different office in Santa Cruz, and this time, the doctor encouraged me to medicate myself when I told her that it works on my backache. I had gone through acupuncture treatment for my back at the time. Do not do business with Dr. Malka. She does not have any sympathy for her patients, and I consider her as a bit of a pain seeker.
