Durban Poison is a landrace sativa named for Durban, the South African port city on the Indian Ocean. In the late 1970s its seeds reached Ed Rosenthal, who shared them with co-author Mel Frank, and Frank passed them to the breeder Sam the Skunkman. Skunkman spent several seasons in California breeding out its hermaphrodite streak before the strain reached Amsterdam in the 1980s. The nose is sweet and piney, with a spicy note of anise and licorice and a little citrus, and terpinolene leads its terpene profile. It is commonly described as clear-headed and energetic, a daytime strain. Its genes run through Girl Scout Cookies, bred from an OG Kush cut and an F1 Durban. &Shine's version is cannabis oil finished with botanical-derived terpenes, with terpinolene leading this run just as it leads the plant.
