Blue Dream turned up around 2003 in Santa Cruz, California, a cutting passed from grower to grower. It joins DJ Short's Blueberry, built from Thai and Afghan landraces and a High Times Cannabis Cup winner in 2000, with Haze, first grown in Santa Cruz itself in the early 1970s. Shared as a clone, it became the best-selling strain in both Washington and Colorado by 2015, and Headset ranked it California's top-selling flower strain in 2023 and again in 2024. The cultivar's nose runs to sweet, ripe blueberry over a soft, musky woodiness. PUFF lists it as creative, uplifting and relaxed, the clear-headed, easygoing balance Blue Dream is commonly described as striking. About PUFF Ross Haley founded PUFF in West Sacramento, California in 2017 and still runs it as CEO. The brand built its following on pre-rolls filled with nothing but flower - no trim, no fillers - and on keeping the same products on the shelf instead of chasing limited drops.
