"Dave" is the sketch that made Cheech and Chong famous - recorded on their self-titled 1971 debut, Grammy-nominated that year, and still quoted by people who have never seen the film. Cheech knocks, says he's Dave, and Chong keeps answering that Dave's not here. Chong has said it came out of a rehearsal accident on a hot August day, with Cheech genuinely locked outside.
