DELI - Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet is an indica-leaning strain created in the 1990s through a collaboration with DJ Short, the celebrity breeder behind Blueberry, and Dutch Passion, an Amsterdam-based genetics house. Although it's sometimes called Blueberry Thai, and its story is wrapped up in that of Blueberry, on paper, it's a cross of Afghan indica and Purple Thai with no Blueberry in sight.

Still, every telling of the Blue Velvet story says it comes from the original seed stock from the 1990s Blueberry breeding project. Whatever the case, this is a heavy resin producer that grows incredibly dark bud, with nearly black leaves that pop out between bright orange pistils. Its aroma is a balance of fruity and flowery notes, and enthusiasts report this produces an equally balanced high, mixing heady sensations with a more relaxing body effect — ideal for watching our favorite David Lynch thriller.
