Product description
Kings Road Studio 54 3.5G Concentrate: Hell's Kitchen Dispensary near Columbus Circle, Manhattan Long before the name turned up on a strain, Studio 54 was a nightclub on West 54th Street, a few blocks from our counter. The Kings Road Studio 54 3.5G Concentrate has nothing to do with disco, but the name lands differently this close to the old marquee. Cannadreams carries it at our licensed Hell's Kitchen dispensary, 862 9th Ave on the corner of West 56th Street. More than the usual gram A lot of concentrate is sold by the gram. This one is listed at 3.5 grams, the same weight as an eighth of flower, which makes it a jar for someone who already knows how they like to dab. The product name says Concentrate without naming a style, so it does not tell you whether the jar holds badder, sugar, live resin or rosin. Kings Road sells more than one style, including live resin and rosin, so read the jar label, or ask us to check it, first. The Kings Road label The photos Kings Road uses for its concentrates show a hinged purple box stamped with a gold crest: a crown, a laurel wreath, a KR monogram and the words Est. MMXXII, Roman numerals for 2022. Next to it sits a short glass jar with a purple cap. The same image covers every Kings Road concentrate, so the 3.5 gram jar may not look exactly like it. The brand also puts out Crowns preroll packs and 2 gram all-in-one vapes. Who makes Kings Road, and where in New York, is not widely published; we could not find a brand website for it. New York labeling rules require the label to name the licensed processor, so the jar itself answers that question. Studio 54, according to the strain guides Strain databases commonly report Studio 54 as a cross of Sunset Sherbet and OZ Kush #54, so the number in the name matches one of its parents. One widely used strain guide credits Deep East Farms and Doja Pak, which it describes as California breeders. Both guides we checked mention pineapple, fruit, candy and gas, and one adds diesel. That is the strain in general; Kings Road does not publish which cut it extracts, so use those notes as a starting point and let the jar settle it. Our menu does not list a type for this product, and we are not going to assign one. Using a 3.5 gram jar without wasting it A dab rig or an electronic rig is the usual route, and a nectar collector works if you do not want a full rig on the counter. Some people prefer a thin layer on top of a bowl. Whatever the tool, read the label first, start with an amount about the size of a grain of rice, and wait before going further. Lower temperatures keep more of the flavor, and flavor is the point of buying a strain-specific jar. Use a metal or ceramic dab tool, and move a few days' worth onto parchment paper so the main jar gets opened less often. Keeping it fresh in a city apartment Concentrate does not like heat or light. Steam heat from a prewar radiator, a sunny windowsill, or a jacket pocket on a humid August subway platform will all soften it and fade the aroma. Keep the lid tight and the jar in a dark drawer away from heat. Longer storage in the fridge works for many concentrates, but let the jar come back to room temperature before you open it, or moisture will condense inside. If yours comes boxed, hold on to the box: it blocks light, and it makes the jar easy to spot and easy to keep out of reach of kids and pets. Coming by the shop We are on 9th Ave at West 56th, a few minutes from Columbus Circle and Central Park South and an easy walk from the Theater District. Walk-ins are welcome, and we will hand you the jar to read. You can also order online for in-store pickup and grab it at the counter. Why licensed concentrate matters Concentrate is where shortcuts hide best, because the extraction process is invisible once the product is in a jar. The unlicensed smoke shops selling unlabeled wax are not part of New York's legal market. Everything we carry, including this Kings Road jar, comes through the regulated system with state-required lab testing and labeling, and the label names the licensed processor and links to the lab results for its batch.
