Skunks are generally known for their potency, to such an extent that ‘skunk’ is popularly used as a name for powerful cannabis, whether or not they are part of the Skunk family. They are also known among growers as uniform, reliable performers, and their super/uber-stable genotype has contributed to the creation of many modern hybrids. Its energetic performance and generous yields will show a grower the true meaning of hybrid vigor. Plants grown from Skunk #1 seeds show mostly-Indica features, but with a bit more extra height than a pure Indica when flowering.
Skunk #1 is very quick to flower and grows sturdy stems and branches that match the generous amount of buds it develops. Don’t be put off by the different colors its fan leaves can show as harvest time comes closer: Skunk #1 plants focus their energy on bud formation and resin production.
Skunk #1’s beautiful calyxes and long pistils, as well as her tendency to show multi-directional bud growth are the most apparent traits of its Sativa heritage. It has a fantastic influence on potency and effect - a stunning combination of stone and high.

Skunk #1, also referred to as the Original Skunk #1, is a cultivar created by David Watson -- also known as Sam the Skunkman -- that serves as the genetic backbone for many of today’s cannabis strains.
Sources trace its origins to 1970’s California. It’s present in countless crossbreeds, and is a descendant of an Afghani landrace strain crossed with Acapulco Gold and Colombian Gold.
Refining his crops over many years, Sam the Skunkman selected phenotypes with the best yields, early flowering times and dense, resinous buds. It was one of the first well-known indoor cannabis varieties, and won several awards, including 1st place at the inaugural High Times Cannabis Cup in 1988.
