Not much is known about Purple Urkle’s origin story, except that it first appeared in the 1980s. Some online sources claim that the cultivar’s heritage can be traced back to Mendocino Purps, a well-known cannabis strain produced in Northern California’s Emerald Triangle. Others speculate that Purple Urkle could be a phenotype of either Mendocino Purps or Granddaddy Purple.
