Cannabis flower is rich in trichomes, resin glands containing the cannabinoids and terpenes that together produce anywhere from relaxing to stimulating effects depending on the potency and ratios of each active compound. -- Sour Diesel is a legacy cannabis cultivar with an unmistakable aroma, flavor and effect. The origin story of this powerful flower is equal parts elusive and legendary. Sharp fuel singes at your nostrils with strong skunky aromas that evolve into soft citrus whispers on the nose and entice the taste buds. The flavor is an energizing blend of tangy diesel with a signature citrus finish. Sour Diesel delivers potent effects that uplift the mind and mood (yet relax the body) making it a perfect pairing for long contemplative walks, adventures out in nature, and social gatherings.

Also known as Sour D and East Coast Sour Diesel (or ECSD,) Sour Diesel is a prolific strain with somewhat tumultuous origins.

According to online sources, Sour Diesel gained prominence in New York in the mid-90s when breeder AJ (short for A**hole Joe,) accidentally pollinated a Chemdog 91 female with pollen from a Super Skunk he acquired during a trip to Amsterdam. The end result, Sour Diesel, was reportedly named for the way it soured business relationships as it spread through New York’s underground cannabis market, causing rifts as it changed hands among growers.
