Northern Lights X Big Bud has an archetypally Indica high with a very thick body stone. It can creep up on the user, sometimes taking several minutes to take hold. Users rarely report mental stimulation, instead describing a disorienting foggy feeling. The high is sleepy but psychoactive, with qualities that are both stimulating and deeply relaxing. This lazy high, often descending into couchlock, is perfect for passive activities like watching movies or listening to your favorite music. The flavor is smooth but skunky and fruity, while the aroma is similarly skunky. Medical uses for this strain include anxiety, chronic pain, and stress, all relieved by a combination of head and body effects.

Northern Lights is one of the most famous and sought-after “Indica” strains of all time. Considered a descendant of Afghani and Thai landrace strains, the exact origin of Northern Lights remains a bit of a mystery. It may have originated in Washington in the 1970s, prior to reaching the Netherlands, where breeder Neville Schoenmaker pioneered several Northern Lights phenotypes in the ’80s for The Seed Bank, an early iteration of Sensi Seeds.
Since 1985, when Sensi Seeds first commercialized this strain, Northern Lights has been a landmark Indica strain in cannabis culture.
