Some people like to make a mild butter and use it to spread on their toast, or add a teaspoon or two to a smoothie or bowl.&nbsp; &nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you go the smoothie route, be sure to freeze the fruit before adding -- there's no need for ice, so there's no watered-down smoothie sadness. Some folks prefer to make a seriously potent infused butter and add it to a recipe, perhaps at \u00bc teaspoon (about 1.23 mL) increments.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But seriously, the stronger the weed the stronger the butter, so plan accordingly. &nbsp;Going overboard is not fun. Stay tuned. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For now, follow these directions and you will make the best butter your weed will allow.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-making-canna-butter\">Making canna-butter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Be sure to decarb the cannabis before making the butter. That means that you need to bake the cannabis on a cookie sheet, in a single layer, for 40 minutes at 240 degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ingredients\">Ingredients<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4 sticks butter*<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1 ounce cannabis flower or shake, ground and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/weedmaps.com\/learn\/products-and-how-to-consume\/keys-decarbing-weed\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">decarboxylated<\/span><\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"432\" height=\"288\" src=\"https:\/\/weedmaps.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Ingred-for-infusion-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-2342 wm-img-popup-click\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Ingred-for-infusion-copy.jpg 432w, https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/Ingred-for-infusion-copy-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This recipe uses 4 sticks of butter for every ounce (28.35 grams) of marijuana, or a ratio of 1 stick of butter (4 fluid ounces, or 1.25 mL) to 0.25 ounces (7.09 g) of marijuana. So, if you're using a half-ounce of weed that's about 2 sticks of butter.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-materials\">Materials<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Medium saucepan<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heatproof glass bowl<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Fine-mesh strainer<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cheesecloth<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Twine (optional)<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-directions\">Directions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bring water to a boil. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a medium saucepan, bring water to a boil. You can vary the amounts, but be sure that the marijuana is always floating 2 inches, or about 5 centimeters, from the bottom of the pan.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"432\" height=\"288\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2348 wm-img-popup-click\" src=\"https:\/\/weedmaps.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/1-Boiling-water-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/1-Boiling-water-copy.jpg 432w, https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/1-Boiling-water-copy-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add the butter. After the butter has melted, add the marijuana. Once the cannabis is added, the heat should be turned down, very low, to barely a simmer. Cook for three hours.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"432\" height=\"288\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2345 wm-img-popup-click\" src=\"https:\/\/weedmaps.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/2-ground-cannabis-to-butter-water-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/2-ground-cannabis-to-butter-water-copy.jpg 432w, https:\/\/wmnews.wpenginepowered.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/2-ground-cannabis-to-butter-water-copy-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 432px) 100vw, 432px\" \/><\/li><li>Strain the butter mixture. <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set up a bowl to hold the finished product. There are a couple of ways to strain the mixture. For one, you can use a deep heatproof glass bowl with a fine-mesh strainer lined with cheesecloth. Or, you can also tie a double layer of cheesecloth around a large heatproof bowl with twine, making it taut across the top. Place in the fridge until the butter has solidified and separated from the water.
