While the formulations and manufacturing methods can vary between brands, the name has become a familiar shorthand for this style of cannabis extract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wm-article-table-of-contents-header\" id=\"are-rso-edibles-stronger-than-regular-edibles\">\n\tAre RSO edibles stronger than regular edibles?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The short answer is they can be, but not simply because they're labeled \u201cRSO.\u201d The biggest factor is how much THC you're consuming. RSO, by contrast, generally contains a broader range of cannabinoids and other cannabis compounds. The 11-hydroxy-THC effect<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the biggest differences between inhaling cannabis and eating an edible is what happens after consumption. After THC is absorbed through the digestive tract, much of it passes through the liver before reaching systemic circulation. THC from RSO and THC from other edible formulations are both metabolized into 11-hydroxy-THC. An RSO edible may feel intense when it contains a substantial THC dose, but the RSO label alone does not predict the experience. That's why paying attention to the milligrams of THC on the label and waiting before taking another serving is so important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wm-article-table-of-contents-header\" id=\"how-long-do-rso-edibles-take-to-kick-in-and-how-long-do-they-last\">\n\tHow long do RSO edibles take to kick in \u2014 and how long do they last?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you're used to smoking or vaping cannabis, RSO edibles require a different mindset. Because they're digested before their cannabinoids are absorbed and metabolized, they don't produce immediate effects. The exact duration depends on factors such as the amount of THC consumed, the product formulation, food intake, metabolism, and tolerance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The biggest mistake new consumers make is assuming an edible isn't working and taking another serving too soon. To reduce the risk of overconsumption, <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabis.colorado.gov\/responsible-use\/safety-with-edibles\">wait at least 90 minutes<\/a> before considering another dose, and remember that some edibles can continue building toward their full effects for several hours. Giving your body enough time to process the first serving is one of the simplest ways to have a safer, more predictable experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wm-article-table-of-contents-header\" id=\"how-much-rso-edible-should-you-take\">\n\tHow much RSO edible should you take?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you're new to RSO edibles, the best approach is to <a href=\"https:\/\/cannabis.ny.gov\/consumers\">start low and go slow<\/a>. Consider starting with 2.5 mg of THC or less.
