The body processes THC<\/a> (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol), the intoxicating cannabinoid known for creating euphoric, stoned effects in several ways, and is dependent on the method of consumption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When inhaled with a vaporizer, joint, or bong, THC enters the bloodstream via the lungs and is pumped throughout the body, where it binds to the CB1 receptors located in the brain, certain organs, and central nervous system, as well as the CB2 receptors in the spleen and immune system, gastrointestinal tract and other organs and tissues. With edibles or tinctures, THC will enter the bloodstream through the walls of the stomach and intestines, traveling directly to the liver.
