Arthritis<\/a> is a painful disease that 54 million Americans are living with, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Inflammation<\/a> causes discomfort, decreases range of motion, and stiffens the joints of arthritis sufferers. The most common type of arthritis is osteoarthritis<\/a>, which mainly affects adults 65 and older. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Whole-plant CBD oil may offer relief to arthritis sufferers, including senior citizens<\/a> who are most commonly diagnosed with osteoarthritis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several recent studies have shown that CBD oil and other topicals<\/a> could be beneficial in treating the joint pain and inflammation associated with arthritis. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 2015 study published in the European Journal of Pain<\/a> found that CBD decreased inflammation and pain in rodents. Notably, the administration route of CBD was topical, which could lend hope to arthritis patients seeking a balm to massage into painful joints. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While results from tests performed on animals may not always reflect the human experience, a 2018 study published in the Journal of Headache Pain<\/a> reported positive findings from a cohort of cannabis-consuming patients. Researchers found that cannabis varieties high in the terpenes  caryophyllene<\/a> and myrcene <\/a>(the most dominant chemovars on the market at the time of the study) had the best success at treating headaches, migraines, and other pain disorders including arthritis. <\/p>\n\n\n\t\t\t
