You are doing a great job there. I like how you used CFL's and the two-way sockets to add more light. What kind of soil are you using?

    Thanks, I'm hopeful about harvest.

I'm embarrassed to say we started with Miracle Grow soil with 20% perlithe and NO nutrients until today. Steve's Hydro set me up with Fox Farm Big Bloom and advised a change to a red spectrum light.

Looks like our 2nd Blue Russian is a male. Right?

    YES.

Gently, very gently, take the container and whole plant away from the grow room before you cut it down. Do not go back into the grow room until after you have showered and changed your clothes. Wash the container thoroughly before reuse.

Optionally, if you are into breeding, let him grow outside and harvest the pollen. You can snip those ballsacks after they mature a bit more and place them into plastic baggies for storage in the fridge. When ready to breed, take some pollen with a Q-tip and rub it on a female flower, then harvest the seeds for a later time. Have fun by planting the seeds at your local police station.

That's the first male I've seen, thanks a ton for the reassurance and advise. We're going to let him grow OUTside and use the pot for an AK-47 seed that just cracked.

Quick question: can we reuse that dirt?

Yes, but wet it down so that no stray pollen gets airborne near the flowers in the grow room. In reply to canabusbill

The Victory Garden one week after adding Fox Farms' Big Bloom nutrient. The young Blue Russian in the front grew from 7.5" to 14.5" and is just starting to bud. The stunted Banana Kush now has more than 2 dozen buds.

The Blue Russian on the left is about 2 weeks to harvest day, and the Chem Dawg on the right is a little behind her.

OutfreakingStanding. You have done a great job.

Just goes to show that CFL's do work.

How much did your electric bill go up? Do you know how many additional kilowatt hours you are burning?

Does this look male to anyone? Or maybe it's a female that got fertilized?

It looks like a hermaphrodite. Pistils would have emerged by now from the calyx. I will post a picture in my thread to demonstrate.

The plant looks exceptionally healthy so it makes one wonder if the seed was genetically predisposed to be a hermie or did the light source cause it due to stress? If you had any light leaking in at the wrong time, or maybe multiple blackouts, light interruptions, etc., that could be the problem. If everything with the lights was perfect, then it might just be her nature.

What can you tell us about the seeds or was she a clone? If she is a clone, check with the source to see if others are seeing the same problem.

On a positive note, you can spread her pollen on another female plant you will receive a batch of female seeds. Unfortunately, if she is genetically prone to herme, then she will produce more hermies. In reply to canabusbill

A hermie, that makes sense. As far as the seeds go, we've been finding them one by one in the weed we were told was Blue Russian. And we've had no light leaks but did have a couple of 5-15 minute blackouts.

    Thanks again for your expertise.
